CONFERENCE: 2013 Election Climate Change Forum

Given my research area is concerned with energy policy it would be remiss of me not to mention the upcoming September 7 Federal Election.

The election so far has hardly focused on renewable energy, however both major political parties are supporting the continuation of the Renewable Energy Target, although the Australian Liberal opposition party has proposed a review of the scheme to consider modifications for the reduction of electricity costs for householders and industry.  Additionally, the opposition party has put forward a ‘million solar roofs’ policy to increase the proportion of domestic solar microgeneration systems in Australia.

I recently attended a forum where members of the federal Labor and Greens parties battled it out over Climate Change issues.  Disappointingly the Liberal candidate never showed up - but there was still a large amount of discussion going on!  You can see a summary of my comments on my blog.
